We assess the site, access, ground preparation and practical requirements of the operation, alongside health, safety and environmental considerations. Where relevant, findings are discussed with the Forest Works Manager before work starts.
The scale of the operation, site conditions and specification are used to plan the people, equipment and material distribution required for the work.
Health and safety requirements, access and any issues identified during the site assessment form part of that planning. If site conditions differ from what was expected, we discuss this with the client before deciding the best way forward.
The team is briefed before starting work, including the work required, site specification, relevant hazards and any site-specific issues identified through assessment or documentation.
Operational briefings continue as conditions, hazards or requirements change.
Work is carried out by Buka Forestry's managed team to the site specification. Progress is recorded daily and supervision continues throughout the operation.
Work is checked as it progresses rather than waiting until the site is complete.
For planting, checks include planting depth, root position, firmness, spacing, planting position, tree condition, stocking, species boundaries and missed ground.
Health and safety, site conditions and other requirements are also kept under review as the operation progresses.
Progress is recorded and reported according to the requirements of the Forest Works Manager.
Depending on the operation, this can include completed quantities, mapped areas, photographs and screenshots from active maps. Information is provided in a structured format that can be readily forwarded internally without having to be rewritten.
If an issue is found during the work, we establish its location and scale and record the relevant information.
Where useful, the affected area can be mapped using Avenza Maps and supported with screenshots or photographs. Where appropriate, we provide practical options based on what we see on site. If the Forest Works Manager prefers another solution, we work to their instruction.

Potential hazards are considered during the site assessment and planning stages and communicated to the team before work. Daily briefings take account of the work being undertaken, known hazards and observations from the site.
